Vietnam national team returns to Hanoi, aiming to host Singapore.

After thrashing Timor Leste 7-0 in the first Group A match of the 2026 ASEAN Championship, Vietnam's squad has returned to Hanoi to prepare for welcoming Singapore on home soil.

Right after landing, Coach Kim Sang Sik and his players promptly moved to the hotel, swiftly entering the recovery and practice phase to gear up for what is expected to be a tougher contest. The coaching staff set up a tailored plan to help the athletes regain their fitness following the travel, while also assessing the squad and finalizing tactical approaches.

The decisive win over Timor Leste has temporarily placed Vietnam at the top of Group A with 3 points and a +7 goal difference. Singapore is right behind (3 points, +1 goal difference), while Indonesia has yet to play. Cambodia and Timor Leste sit at the bottom without any points.

Despite a promising start, Coach Kim Sang Sik instructed his players to quickly move past the recent result and fully concentrate on the match against Singapore, an opponent recognized for their structured play and a key contender for the group lead.

As planned, the Vietnam team will maintain a suitable training intensity in the coming days to perfect their system and thoroughly prepare tactically for the home fixture.
