Manchester United officially announce that the young talent will continue his loan at Ratcliffe's satellite club! The youth academy goalkeeper is priced at £15 million and could move to the Bundesliga.

Manchester United confirmed on Friday that teenage midfielder Sekou Kone will remain on loan at Lausanne-Sport in Switzerland, with the move set to be finalized upon registration. Kone was sent to the same club for the latter part of last season but did not feature prominently, missing out on the European roster. United are expecting him to receive more playing opportunities in the upcoming season.

However, ironically, United's official statement claimed that Kone's performances last season were "excellent," which clearly contradicts reality. Statistics show that Kone made five appearances in the Swiss Super League in the 2025/26 season, totaling just 134 minutes—hardly indicative of outstanding play. He was not registered for the Europa Conference League, and his performances clearly fell short of expectations.

In July, Lausanne-Sport appointed a new coach, Luca Elsner, and United will hope that the new manager has a different perspective on Kone, appreciating the Malian youngster who was once hailed as the "new Essien" upon his arrival. Lausanne-Sport is a satellite club owned by Manchester United's owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and finished ninth in the league last season.

Manchester United signed Kone in August 2024 for a transfer fee of £1 million. However, his development has been hampered by various injuries, including a bizarre orbital bone fracture that kept him out of action for nearly a year. Now 20 years old, if Kone cannot prove himself during his loan spell, the only outcome awaiting him is to leave United.

BBC reports that several Manchester United youngsters who were left out of the summer pre-season squad are facing departure. These include Gibraltar international midfielder James Scanlon, former Leyton Orient loanee Jack Moorhouse, Welsh forward Gabriele Biancheri, and Australian international full-back James Overy.

Goalkeeper Radek Vitek, who started in United's second pre-season friendly on Friday, has requested a transfer. He wants to play more first-team football, which is impossible at Manchester United. The 22-year-old Czech shot-stopper said clearly: "I'm still here for now, but there are clubs interested in me. When the situation becomes clear, you will know."

Vitek was on loan at Championship side Bristol City last season, where he swept the club's Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and Fans' Player of the Year awards. Newly promoted Premier League clubs Coventry City, Ipswich Town, and Hull City are all interested in signing Vitek. But he has even more options; Scottish Premiership side Celtic previously made an approach, and now Bundesliga club Stuttgart has also expressed interest in a transfer.

According to German newspaper Bild, Stuttgart's Dennis Seimen suffered a serious thigh injury and will be unable to play until mid-September. The 20-year-old goalkeeper was expected to replace Alexander Nübel as the team's first-choice goalkeeper but is now sidelined. Vitek has become one of the candidates the club is considering signing. Stuttgart's Champions League spot makes them very attractive.

Vitek's contract with Manchester United has two years left. It is reported that United hopes to receive a transfer fee of between £10 million and £15 million if they sell him. If they can persuade him to extend his contract, United might also consider loaning Vitek out again, which would attract more clubs because a loan is a "cost-free acquisition."

Vitek himself said that he is open to either a loan or a permanent transfer. His goal is to leave Manchester United and join a club where he can be a starter, rather than being a backup to Senna Ramense and only playing in domestic cup competitions.
