HLV Herdman praised the Indonesian national team after a 3-0 victory over Bali United: 'A very strong performance'

Indonesia's squad wrapped up their buildup to the 2026 Asean Cup on a high note.

In a friendly match held at the Bali United Training Center in Gianyar on July 21, the Indonesian team defeated Bali United 3-0.

Indonesia's three goals were scored by Marc Klok, Dony Tri Pamungkas, and Mitchell Baker.

This match was a key part of Indonesia's training camp before embarking on the 2026 AFF Cup campaign.

Besides checking the team's readiness, the coaching staff also used the match to give playing time to all the players.

Head coach John Herdman expressed satisfaction with his players' performance. The English manager stated that many goals set by the coaching staff were achieved through this friendly.

"It was a very strong performance from the whole team. We gave valuable minutes to all the players, and that was one of our key objectives," he emphasized.

Beyond the positive result, Coach Herdman believes Indonesia's playing style has started to show encouraging signs after the training camp.

He observed that the team is gradually implementing the tactical ideas developed by the coaching staff.

"We are beginning to see clear signs of our tactical identity, and today the team showed significant progress.

We still have five days to continue preparing, improve quality, and build on what we showed in this match," the English coach concluded.

The Indonesian national team, under coach John Herdman, has been training in Bali since early July 2026. Herdman called up 50 players to the preliminary squad.

The Indonesian squad includes several players of Indonesian descent who currently play domestically, such as Ragnar Oratmangoen, Thom Haye, and Shayne Pattynama.

Mitchell Baker, who recently completed his naturalization process, has also joined the Indonesian national team.

Indonesia is in Group A of the 2026 Asean Cup. In the group stage, they will face Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia, and Timor Leste.

Indonesia will begin their 2026 AFF Cup campaign by hosting Cambodia at Pakansari Stadium (Bogor) on July 27.
