Hanoi FC officially secured Andrew Jung, a 1.92m forward who topped the goal-scoring list for Indonesia's reigning champions, Persib Bandung, setting high hopes for the team's frontline next season.

Hanoi FC has officially confirmed the acquisition of Andrew Jung, concluding the waiting period following the French striker's links to the capital club since early July. In the introductory video, the 1997-born forward appeared wearing jersey number 90 and delivered a brief greeting: “Hello, you’ve been waiting a long time, haven’t you? I am Andrew Jung.”

Hanoi FC's new signing, born in Remiremont, stands 1.92m tall and plays as a center forward. He moved to Hang Day Stadium after an impressive season with Persib Bandung, where Jung became the team's top scorer across all competitions. According to official stats from the Indonesian club, he scored 11 goals in 25 domestic league matches and added 5 goals in 8 appearances in the AFC Champions League Two.

With a total of 16 goals in 33 matches, Jung significantly contributed to Persib's third consecutive domestic title and helped the Indonesian side reach the round of 16 in the AFC Champions League Two. This data is particularly notable for Hanoi FC, as the purple-clad team not only adds a player with exceptional physical presence but also acquires a center forward who has proven his ability to adapt to Southeast Asian football.

Persib still had a contract with Jung until 2027 but agreed to let him leave via transfer. Persib's deputy general manager, Adhitia Putra Herawan, revealed: “The club pursuing Andrew Jung submitted an offer with a very high transfer fee.” Although the exact figure was not disclosed, this detail shows that Hanoi FC acted decisively to complete a significant deal ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Before moving to Indonesia, Jung had played in France for Reims, Châteauroux, Concarneau, Quevilly-Rouen, Nancy, and Valenciennes. His biggest mark in his home country came in the 2020/21 season when he scored 21 goals in 30 matches for Quevilly-Rouen, earning the top scorer and best player awards in the French third division. Later, the 28-year-old forward also experienced Belgian football with Oostende and played in Greece for OFI Crete.

Jung's arrival comes at a time of significant changes in Hanoi FC's attack, especially after Pham Tuan Hai left the club. However, the French newcomer is not simply a like-for-like replacement. With his 1.92m height, ability to operate inside the box, and experience as a target man, Jung can help Hanoi FC expand their approach to matches, particularly against opponents who opt for deep defensive lines.
