Real Madrid has just received a positive signal as Rodrygo recovers faster than anticipated from a serious ligament injury. The Brazilian forward is likely to make his comeback at the start of 2027, ahead of the original schedule.
Real Madrid has just received an optimistic update regarding Rodrygo's condition as the Brazilian forward is recovering faster than expected after a severe knee ligament injury. If everything goes smoothly, the 25-year-old star could return as early as January 2027, much sooner than the initial diagnosis.
According to the newspaper AS, Rodrygo's treatment is progressing beyond expectations. Initially, Real Madrid's medical team expected the player to be sidelined for about 12 months. However, given his current recovery pace, that period could be shortened to around 10 months.
Rodrygo suffered a serious injury on March 2 during the La Liga match between Real Madrid and Getafe. He sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear along with lateral meniscus damage in his right knee—one of the most severe injuries for a football player.
The surgery was performed on March 10, after which Rodrygo began a lengthy rehabilitation process involving physical therapy, muscle strength building, and mobility recovery. Currently, the Brazilian forward can walk normally and carry out daily activities without issue.
During his recovery period, Rodrygo has remained closely involved with Real Madrid. He has been present at the Valdebebas training center since the early days of the team's preseason preparations under coach Jose Mourinho. In addition to regular medical check-ups, Rodrygo frequently appears to support and encourage his teammates.
Sources from AS indicate that Rodrygo's immediate goal is to receive medical clearance to return to training in January 2027. However, to regain optimal fitness and match sharpness, the 2001-born player will need additional time before competing for a starting spot.
Not only is he highly anticipated on the pitch, but Rodrygo's influence in the Real Madrid dressing room is also growing. Following Dani Carvajal's departure, he now ranks fourth in the club's captaincy order, behind Federico Valverde, Vinicius Junior, and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
With these encouraging signs from his recovery process, Real Madrid has more reason to believe that Rodrygo will soon return and continue to play a key role in their pursuit of trophies during the second half of the season.
