VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan attends the 2026 World Cup final at the invitation of FIFA

Responding to an invitation from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Tran Quoc Tuan, the head of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), is now in the US to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final match between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium.

This is a significant diplomatic activity, further affirming the growing presence and active role of Vietnamese football in major FIFA events.

As part of the event, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan attended the closing ceremony, witnessed the 2026 World Cup trophy presentation, and participated in activities for leaders of FIFA member associations. This also served as an opportunity for the head of Vietnamese football to meet and exchange views with FIFA leadership and representatives from various national associations on the future direction of football development.

Previously, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan also attended the 2026 World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico at FIFA's invitation. Being invited to both of the most important events of the world's biggest football festival demonstrates the close cooperative relationship between the VFF and FIFA, while also reflecting the global football organization's recognition of Vietnamese football's contributions in recent years.

Currently serving as VFF President, as well as a member of the AFC Standing Committee and Chairman of the AFC Competitions Committee, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan regularly participates in major forums and events of continental and global football.

The presence of VFF leadership at the 2026 World Cup final not only enhances the status of Vietnamese football on the international stage but also opens up further opportunities to strengthen cooperation with FIFA and its member associations in football development efforts.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan holds several important positions in international football organizations: member of the FIFA National Team Competitions Committee; member of the AFC Standing Committee; Chairman of the AFC and AFF Competitions Committees; and member of the AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee for the 2023-2027 term. Most recently, he was entrusted by the AFC to serve as Head of the Men's Football Executive Board for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
