Overseas Vietnamese from Belgium joins Ho Chi Minh City Police, opening the door to the Vietnam national team.

Lenn Minh Tran, a defender of Vietnamese descent, officially signed with Ho Chi Minh City Police starting the 2026/27 season, creating opportunities for his development in the V.League and making him a prominent option for the Vietnam squad.

Ho Chi Minh City Police FC continues to draw attention in the transfer market by successfully securing overseas Vietnamese defender Lenn Minh Tran from MVV Maastricht (Netherlands).. The arrival of the 2007-born talent is expected to open up an additional quality option for Vietnamese football in the future.

MVV Maastricht officially confirmed the news on its website. The Dutch club bid farewell to the Vietnamese-origin player after one season together, while wishing him success in his new club's colors.

Lenn Minh Tran, full name Lenn-Minh Quang Tran, was born on March 13, 2007. His father is Vietnamese and his mother is Belgian. The defender currently holds Belgian citizenship, but his family is completing procedures related to Vietnamese nationality under new regulations, as his grandfather still has a birth certificate in Vietnam.

Before moving to the Netherlands to play for MVV Maastricht in mid-2025, Lenn Minh Tran developed at the renowned Genk academy, which has produced many stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Thibaut Courtois.

Primarily playing as a right-back, Lenn Minh Tran can also take on the roles of left-back or right winger. Despite being only 1.69m tall, he impresses with his speed, game-reading ability, and energetic playing style. European coaches rate him as having solid defensive skills, tenacious tackling, accurate interceptions, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Joining Ho Chi Minh City Police is not only a turning point in Lenn Minh Tran's career but also helps the club further affirm its strategy of investing in overseas Vietnamese talents. Previously, the club had also recruited notable figures such as Ngo Dang Khoa and Lee Williams.

At the age of 19, Lenn Minh Tran is eligible to be part of the Vietnam U23 squad for the 2027 SEA Games as well as the 2028 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals.. If he completes the naturalization procedures and maintains his development momentum, the defender who grew up in Belgian football could well become a quality option for the Vietnam national team in the coming years.
