Vietnam's national team receives great news from FIFA following their victory over Myanmar

Vietnam earned 1.52 points from their 4-0 triumph over Myanmar, yet they remain unable to move up in the FIFA standings.

The victory over Myanmar not only held professional significance but also helped the Vietnamese team boost their score on the FIFA rankings. According to the latest calculation, Coach Kim Sang Sik's squad received 1.52 points, raising their total to 1,227.20 and keeping them at 99th place worldwide.

Staying within the top 100 is seen as a positive sign for the Vietnamese team, especially as they aim for key goals in the regional arena. Although the points added were not substantial, the win over Myanmar still helped solidify their ranking and provided extra motivation for the players ahead of upcoming matches.

Notably, the gap between Vietnam and Thailand is gradually narrowing. The Land of Golden Pagodas currently holds the top spot in Southeast Asia, ranked 94th globally with 1,250.80 points. Thus, Thailand leads Vietnam by 23.6 points and five positions on the FIFA table—a gap that is no longer too wide if Vietnam maintains consistent performance.

The race between the two leading regional teams is therefore expected to become more intriguing in the coming period. Every international victory can cause shifts in points, especially as Vietnam and Thailand regularly participate in official tournaments. If they achieve good results against higher-ranked opponents, Vietnam has a real chance to improve their position more quickly.

Meanwhile, Vietnam maintains a fairly comfortable lead over Indonesia, which is ranked third in Southeast Asia. The archipelago nation is currently 118th in the world with 1,157.14 points, trailing Vietnam by about 70 points and 19 spots. This difference shows that Vietnam still holds a clear advantage over the chasing pack.

However, the FIFA rankings can always fluctuate after each international window. To continue holding their position in the top 100, and to narrow the gap with Thailand, the Vietnamese team needs to maintain stability and accumulate more victories. The result against Myanmar is therefore seen as a favorable starting point for Coach Kim Sang Sik's squad in their journey to improve their ranking.
