About four months following his first appearance for Vietnam, Hoàng Hên at last scored his own goal, courtesy of a beautiful shot into Myanmar's net during the July 18 friendly.
In a match that served as a crucial rehearsal and test for Vietnam ahead of the 2026 ASEAN Cup, Hoàng Hên was deployed by Coach Kim Sang Sik on the right wing of the attack, where he delivered an outstanding performance.
Starting on the right flank, Hoàng Hên frequently moved across the pitch, often drifting into central areas and even switching to the left side at times.
With sharp awareness, Hoàng Hên linked up well with Trương Tiến Anh and Xuân Son. Just minutes into the game, he initiated Vietnam's opening goal with a pass into the box. A Myanmar defender's clearance deflected off Tài Lộc's foot, landing perfectly for Xuân Son, who unleashed a decisive shot from the edge of the area to beat the Myanmar goalkeeper.

Besides contributing to that goal, Hoàng Hên also created several shots and good passes for his teammates. Notably, in the 59th minute, the Brazilian-born attacking star netted his own goal, his first in a Vietnam shirt.
From a pass by Trương Tiến Anh, Hoàng Hên calmly took aim and fired a low, powerful shot with the inside of his left foot from about 20 meters, sending the ball into the Myanmar net.
Hoàng Hên possesses excellent long-range shooting ability. Before this goal, he had attempted several dangerous long shots in previous matches for Vietnam, but lacked a bit of luck to find the net.
Now the Hanoi FC player can celebrate. This is an encouraging sign for Vietnam. Hoàng Hên has maintained top form, offering Coach Kim Sang Sik a key attacking option to unlock packed defenses: those long-range strikes.
