On the afternoon of July 16, the last matches of Group A and Group B at the National U21 Finals ended, thus identifying the first four teams to secure spots in the quarterfinals: Hanoi, PVF-CAND, The Cong Viettel, and SLNA.
In Group A, the competition was exciting with two matches: PVF-CAND vs. An Giang and Hanoi vs. Ho Chi Minh City. Among them, the clash between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City attracted attention as the capital team showed superior strength.
In the 6th minute, Thien Phu opened the scoring for Hanoi. The early goal helped the purple-shirted team play with enthusiasm, controlling the game completely, while Ho Chi Minh City actively dropped deep to wait for counterattack opportunities. In the 42nd minute, Hong Phong accurately tapped in from close range, increasing the score to 2-0 before the teams went into halftime.
In the second half, Hanoi continued to maintain pressure. In the 61st minute, Phu Quy scored to make it 3-0, before Dinh Nguyen extended the lead to 4-0 in the 75th minute. Ho Chi Minh City's efforts only resulted in two goals to reduce the deficit in the 80th and 84th minutes.
In the end, Hanoi won 4-2, finishing top of Group A and securing a quarterfinal spot.In the other match, PVF-CAND faced many difficulties against An Giang despite being rated superior. It was not until the 33rd minute that Gia Bao broke the deadlock from a corner kick. Just before halftime, the same Gia Bao completed a brace to help the hosts lead 2-0.
In the second half, PVF-CAND continued to dominate the game and added three more goals in the 66th, 70th, and final minutes to seal a resounding 5-0 victory. With this result, the hosts finished second in Group A and became the second team from the group to qualify for the quarterfinals.
In Group B, the clash between HAGL and SLNA was decisive for the ticket to advance. Before the final round, SLNA temporarily ranked second in the group with 4 points, one point more than HAGL, so a draw was enough to secure a quarterfinal spot, while the mountain city team had to win. A 0-0 draw helped SLNA officially secure a quarterfinal spot as group runners-up. Meanwhile, HAGL had to wait for the results of Group C matches to determine their chances of advancing as one of the two best third-placed teams.
In the remaining match of Group B, The Cong Viettel faced no major difficulties against Tay Ninh. With superior professionalism, the military team won a resounding 6-0, thereby ending the group stage with the top spot in Group B and a quarterfinal ticket. Tay Ninh had to stop after losing all three matches.
