The defeat against Okinawa SV followed an inauspicious start for coach Gavin Lee's team on Japanese soil, after they lost 0-2 to FC Ryukyu in their first friendly.

According to the plan of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), the Lion City team will conclude their training camp with a match against Albirex Niigata, a club currently playing in J.League 2.

The training camp in Okinawa runs from July 6 to 17, with 24 players called up by coach Gavin Lee. The FAS selected three opponents from different levels of Japanese football to help the players adapt to high-intensity competition, while also reviewing the squad and refining tactical aspects ahead of the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

In the 2026 ASEAN Cup, Singapore is placed in Group A alongside defending champions Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste.

According to the schedule, Singapore will kick off their campaign against Timor-Leste on July 27.
