Having left the 2026 World Cup after a crushing loss with the South Korean team, Coach Park Hang-seo has arrived safely in Thailand.
Coach Park Hang-seo is now in Thailand, ready to begin a new chapter as the head coach of Kanchanaburi Power. This club, competing in Thai League 2, hopes that the experience and deep understanding of Southeast Asian football possessed by the South Korean strategist will create a turning point in their promotion race.
Prior to traveling to Thailand to take up his new role, Park Hang-seo briefly returned to Vietnam for some rest after the intense journey with the South Korean national team at the 2026 World Cup. This also gave the 68-year-old coach a chance to reunite with some of his former players, who had accompanied him during the successful era of Vietnamese football.
His return to Vietnam took place right after Park and the South Korean team left North America. The Korean squad failed to achieve their goal of advancing past the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, putting the coaching staff and officials of the Korea Football Association under considerable pressure from public opinion and domestic media.
According to Newsis, Coach Park Hang-seo has decided to resign from his position as Vice President of the Korea Football Association following the national team's less-than-expected campaign. At the 2026 World Cup, he served as the head of the delegation, directly accompanying and supporting the South Korean team during their preparation and matches in North America.
The strategist, who once led the Vietnamese national team, is said to have expressed his desire to leave the position immediately after South Korea was officially eliminated. A private farewell gathering was held discreetly in Mexico, attended by KFA Secretary General Kim Seung Hee and team members, before Park completed his duties and concluded his tenure at the KFA.
After a short break in Vietnam, Coach Park Hang-seo continued his journey to Thailand to officially take charge of Kanchanaburi Power. With his long-term experience in the region, proven ability to manage the locker room, and established tactical imprint, he is expected to help Kanchanaburi enhance their competitiveness, build a stable playing style, and realize their goal of earning promotion to Thai League 1.
