ASEAN Cup 2026 Group Stage Schedule

Before Southeast Asian football enters a new chapter with the FIFA ASEAN Cup, fans will witness the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 – the 16th edition of the ASEAN Football Championship organized by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). This is the first time the tournament has been named the ASEAN Hyundai Cup due to sponsorship reasons, while also marking the 30th anniversary of its inaugural edition.

One notable change is that the tournament will take place from July to August 2026, instead of the traditional year-end schedule. This also marks the first time the ASEAN Cup has been held during the summer.

The Vietnam national team enters the tournament as the defending champions, having defeated Thailand in the ASEAN Cup 2024 final. The ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 also serves as the event immediately preceding the first FIFA ASEAN Cup, which was announced by FIFA in October 2025.

Regarding the format, the tournament continues with the model used since 2018. The nine best-performing teams earn direct spots in the finals, while the two lowest-ranked teams, Brunei and Timor-Leste, compete for the remaining spot through a two-legged qualifying round. On June 9, 2026, Timor-Leste defeated Brunei with an aggregate score of 6-1 to become the final team to qualify.

The ten participating teams are divided into two groups of five, playing a single round-robin with two home matches and two away matches each. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals, followed by knockout rounds and the final, all played over two legs. The away goals rule continues to be not applied.
