The provincial government of Thanh Hóa and the VFF have reached a consensus to intensify collaboration in order to resolve challenges, thereby creating additional optimism for the Thanh Hóa side to stay in V.League 2026/27.
Thanh Hóa Club has just received a positive signal amid an uncertain future in the V.League The 2026/27 season is still not guaranteed. Following a meeting held on July 9, the provincial leaders of Thanh Hóa and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) agreed to strengthen cooperation to tackle the obstacles the club is facing. This is regarded as a crucial move, laying the groundwork for the club to quickly stabilize its structure, meet all necessary requirements, and aim to continue competing in Vietnam's top-tier football league.
The meeting was attended by Nguyen Hong Phong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hóa Provincial Party Committee, along with representatives from the Provincial People's Committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. From the VFF, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan and Chief of Office Cao Ngoc Cam directly exchanged views with local leaders on strategies to develop Thanh Hóa football in a professional and sustainable manner. Both sides agreed on the necessity of close coordination to address immediate issues while building a long-term development foundation for football in the Thanh Hóa region.
During the meeting, Thanh Hóa provincial leaders emphasized that football always receives special attention because it is not only a sport with broad appeal but also a means to promote the local image. However, the province also recognized that the club is confronting numerous challenges, including financial resources, player roster, and compliance with professional football licensing standards. Consequently, finding an overarching solution to sustain the team's operations is the top priority.
To address the current bottlenecks, Thanh Hóa province will conduct a thorough review of the club's activities, focusing on resolving pending issues to safeguard the interests of the coaching staff and players. Simultaneously, the locality will actively seek out enterprises, investors, and sponsors with strong financial capabilities who are willing to support the team over the long term. Given that professional clubs must operate under a self-sufficient mechanism, mobilizing social resources is seen as a key factor in ensuring sustainable development.
On the VFF side, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed that the Federation will stand by Thanh Hóa not only in professional matters but also by sharing governance experience, facilitating resource connections, and advising on building an operational model suited to modern professional football. This support is anticipated to help the club gradually perfect its management structure, enhance operational efficiency, and fulfill the licensing requirements for the upcoming season.
The agreement between Thanh Hóa provincial leaders and the VFF to strengthen coordination is viewed as the most encouraging sign for the Thanh Hóa team at this moment. If financial, organizational, and management solutions are promptly and effectively executed, Thanh Hóa will have a stronger basis to stabilize its activities, maintain its standing in professional football, and nurture hopes of continuing to compete in V.League 2026/27. This is also expected to serve as a stepping stone for Thanh Hóa football to achieve balanced development from youth training to the first team in the years ahead.
