Vietnamese club creates a stir by trialing 3 overseas Vietnamese talents from Germany, USA, and France

Ha Tinh Club is attracting a lot of interest by giving trial opportunities to three young overseas Vietnamese players at the same time for the upcoming season.

Hong Linh Ha Tinh is making notable preparations for the V.League 2026/27 season by offering trial chances to three overseas Vietnamese players at once. These are all young talents who grew up or played in developed football nations such as Germany, the USA, and France. The trial of this group shows that the club from the Hong Mountain is actively seeking new faces to increase squad depth for coach Phan Nhu Thuat.

The first name is Hong Lac Luong Thanh, a player born in 2006 with German-Vietnamese heritage. He currently belongs to Jahn Regensburg II in Germany and can play multiple defensive positions such as left-back, center-back, or right-back. Standing at 1.83m, Luong Thanh has a considerable physical advantage compared to the average young Vietnamese player today.

Having been trained in the German football environment, Hong Lac Luong Thanh is highly regarded for his tackling, reading of the game, and aerial ability. His versatility is also a major plus, as he can provide more personnel options for Hong Linh Ha Tinh's defense in what is expected to be a highly competitive new season.

The second figure is Ian Mai, a right-back born in 2004 with American-Vietnamese heritage. Ian Mai developed through the US football system, having played for the LAFC academy and San Diego Loyal before moving to Europe to play for FC Ordino in Andorra. At 1.78m, with good speed and strong physical foundation, Ian Mai fits the modern full-back mold.

Besides his natural right-back position, Ian Mai can also take on left-back or winger roles when needed. His ability to constantly move forward and back could give Hong Linh Ha Tinh more options on the flanks, especially in matches requiring high intensity and tactical flexibility.

The third overseas Vietnamese player given a chance by Hong Linh Ha Tinh is Kalvin Luong, a striker born in 2002 with French-Vietnamese heritage. Kalvin stands 1.81m tall, is right-footed, and can play as a center forward, supporting striker, or winger. His strengths include positioning, one-touch finishing, holding up the ball, and aerial duels. The simultaneous trial of three overseas Vietnamese players shows that Hong Linh Ha Tinh has a clear direction in expanding its human resources, aiming for a more competitive squad in the V.League 2026/27 season.
