The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) organized a contract signing event and press conference on July 8 to unveil the new head coach of the men's national team, Mr. Jorn Andersen, a Norwegian tactician who formerly led the Hong Kong (China) national side.
Under the agreement with the MFF, Coach Jorn Andersen signed a two-year contract and will officially take over as the head coach of the Myanmar national team in the upcoming period.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Coach Jørn Andersen stated that his primary goal is not only to improve the team's performance but also to elevate the quality of Myanmar's players.
"I am very happy to be in Myanmar. After discussions and negotiations with the Myanmar Football Federation, both sides have agreed to sign a two-year contract.
During my tenure, I will select the best and most suitable players for the team. More importantly, I will strive to help Myanmar players progress and lead the national team to achieve as much success as possible," emphasized Coach Jorn Andersen.

Previously, MFF Secretary General Htun Htun Aung stated that the appointment of Coach Jorn Andersen is part of Myanmar football's long-term development plan, with the expectation of building a more competitive team in regional and continental tournaments.
After the contract signing ceremony, Coach Jørn Andersen and MFF leaders answered questions from the media before taking a commemorative photo with the coaching staff of the national teams.
Jørn Andersen was born in 1963 in Norway. He is a former striker who played for several famous German clubs such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburger SV, Fortuna Düsseldorf, and 1. FC Nürnberg. He won the Bundesliga top scorer title in the 1989/90 season with 18 goals while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt, becoming the first foreign player to achieve this honor.
As a coach, Andersen led Mainz 05 to promotion to the Bundesliga, became the first foreign coach to manage the North Korea national team, and made headlines by guiding the Hong Kong (China) national team to qualify for the Asian Cup after more than half a century of waiting.
According to the MFF, international experience and a deep understanding of Asian football were key factors that led to the selection of the Norwegian strategist to lead the Myanmar national team for the next two years.
