Indonesia makes a key decision ahead of the clash with Vietnam national team

The Pakansari Stadium has been selected by Indonesia as their home ground for the 2026 ASEAN Cup, and it will be the site where they face Vietnam in a group stage fixture on August 3.

The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has officially designated Pakansari Stadium in Bogor Regency as the home stadium for the Indonesian national team during the group stage of the 2026 ASEAN Cup. This is where Patrick Kluivert's squad will host Cambodia and, notably, defending champions Vietnam in the battle for the top spot in Group A.

To prepare for the tournament, PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi personally inspected the organization and facility quality at Pakansari Stadium on July 1. According to the schedule, Indonesia will host Cambodia at home on July 27 before the highly anticipated match against Vietnam on August 3. If they advance to the semifinals, the archipelago nation will move their matches to the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta.

PSSI leaders noted that the pitch is well-maintained and fully meets the standards for hosting a regional competition. Additionally, the parking system, functional areas, and auxiliary structures have been completed, ready to serve teams and fans.

The PSSI Secretary General also thanked the Bogor Regency government, Pakansari Stadium management, and Garudayaksa FC for their thorough coordination. He expressed hope that the Indonesian team would receive enthusiastic support from local fans and audiences nationwide, thereby creating a home advantage in two crucial group stage matches.

For Vietnam, the away trip to Pakansari Stadium is expected to pose considerable challenges. Coach Kim Sang Sik's team are the reigning ASEAN Cup champions and are regarded as top contenders for the group's first place. The showdown against Indonesia on August 3 will likely be decisive in the race for a semifinal spot, as both sides boast quality squads and aim to go far in the tournament.

The 2026 ASEAN Cup will take place from July 24 to August 26, featuring ten top Southeast Asian teams. Vietnam is in Group A alongside Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste, while Group B consists of Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. With Indonesia finalizing its home preparations, the major clash between two title contenders at Pakansari has become one of the most anticipated matches from the group stage onward.
