Starting the match cautiously, Senegal were the first to create sharp chances. In the 25th minute, from Sadio Mane's cross, Ismaila Sarr rose to head the ball, which hit the post and rebounded, allowing Habib Diarra to tap in and open the scoring 1-0 for the African representative.

Right at the start of the second half, coach Rudi Garcia brought on Romelu Lukaku to boost Belgium's attack. However, before the change could take effect, in the 52nd minute, Ismaila Sarr produced a classy move to get past two Belgian defenders and double the lead to 2-0 for Senegal.

Backed into a corner, the "Red Devils" increased the suffocating pressure and created a crazy script at the end of the match. In the 85th minute, Lukaku fired a one-touch shot into the roof of Senegal's net from Meunier's cross, reducing the deficit to 1-2. Just a minute later, the stadium erupted as Tielemans leaped high to head home from close range off Trossard's cross, equalizing 2-2 and sending the match into extra time.

Caution was maintained by both teams for most of extra time. The decisive turning point came in the second extra period when a Senegal defender fouled Tielemans inside the box. From the penalty spot, the midfielder calmly converted, sealing an emotional 3-2 victory for Belgium.
