Vietnam national team alters training schedule before departing for South Korea

The Vietnam national team has modified its training plan for July 1, holding the final session in Hanoi before heading to South Korea for a training camp.

According to an announcement from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Coach Kim Sang Sik and his squad will train at 10:00 AM at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, instead of the originally planned 5:00 PM. The team will have the afternoon off to finalize preparations before departing on July 2.

The training camp in South Korea, running from July 2 to 14, is seen as a crucial step in preparing for the defense of the ASEAN Cup 2026 title. During this period, the Vietnam national team will play three friendly matches against local clubs to assess the squad, test personnel, and refine gameplay under Coach Kim Sang Sik's guidance.

Earlier, the team had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the official match ball for the ASEAN Cup 2026. The coaching staff believes that early exposure helps players adapt to the ball's feel, control, and high-speed handling.

Goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien stated he feels no pressure competing with Dang Van Lam and Patrik Le Giang, and noted that newcomer Nguyen Tai Loc has integrated very quickly into the team.

After the training camp in South Korea concludes, the Vietnam national team will have a friendly match against Myanmar on July 18 before embarking on their journey to defend the Southeast Asian championship.

Phong Phu Ha Nam shines in the National Women's Championship

The third matchday of the National Women's Football Championship – Thai Son Bac 2026 Cup ended with a 2-1 victory for Phong Phu Ha Nam over Than KSVN, while Hanoi II drew 1-1 with Ho Chi Minh City II.

At Phu Ly Stadium, the home team took an early lead in the 4th minute thanks to a goal from Luu Hoang Van. Just before halftime, Ta Thi Thuy doubled the advantage after an assist from Hoang Van.

Than KSVN had a chance to reduce the deficit in the first half, but Truc Huong failed to beat goalkeeper Phuong Thao from the penalty spot. Although the striker scored in the 74th minute, the mining region team ultimately suffered a 2-1 defeat.

In the other match, Hoang Thi Nuong put Ho Chi Minh City II ahead in the 16th minute, before Thanh Thao capitalized on a defensive mistake to equalize just four minutes later. The second half was balanced but produced no further goals.

After three rounds, Phong Phu Ha Nam continues to maintain impressive form, while Hanoi II and Ho Chi Minh City II have both earned their first points of the season.

Hong Linh Ha Tinh parts ways with 11 players to rebuild the squad

Hong Linh Ha Tinh has begun preparations for the 2026/27 V.League season by deciding to release 11 players at once, while also welcoming back defender Nguyen Van Duc after his stint with Quang Nam.

The list of departing players includes 10 domestic players and one foreign player, Welder Jesus. Among them, only midfielder Nguyen Duc Viet and defender Mai Sy Hoang regularly featured in the starting lineup last season, while the majority served as backups.

This squad overhaul is considered a necessary step for Coach Phan Nhu Thuat to build a new framework, aiming to improve competitiveness in the upcoming season.

On the flip side, Hong Linh Ha Tinh welcomes back defender Nguyen Van Duc after three seasons with Quang Nam. The player, who came through the club's own academy, is expected to bring stability to the defense and add depth to the squad.

According to the plan, Hong Linh Ha Tinh will continue to seek additional quality recruits during the transfer window to complete the squad, targeting improved performance in the 2026/27 V.League.
