In the third match of the Round of 32 at the World Cup, which concluded on June 30 Beijing time, the German men's football team lost 4-5 to Paraguay in a penalty shootout, failing to reach the Round of 16 for the third consecutive World Cup.[Watch the World Cup on Migu Video]

Notably, Germany had scored a last-gasp goal in extra time, but it was disallowed by the referee. After the match, young German coach Julian Nagelsmann once again strongly questioned this controversial decision.

Nagelsmann stated: "Disallowing that goal is a scandal. It's an absolute scandal. Some matches you just have to win ugly. We deserved to win it that way."
In an interview with German TV channel ZDF, Nagelsmann appeared very sensitive and irritable, snapping at a female journalist: "I've already said that three times."

The controversial 38-year-old coach also said he would not resign: "I still have two years left on my contract. I won't resign voluntarily; I'm available. If the German Football Association wants me to stay until 2028, I'll continue to coach. If they don't want that, I'll leave."

Although Nagelsmann intends to continue coaching, many football legends are pessimistic about his future. Former German international Arne Friedrich bluntly stated that Nagelsmann should be dismissed immediately.
"Yes, I think it's pretty much certain. If we look back at our entire World Cup performance, this loss is what we deserved. Our performance throughout the tournament has not reached the required level. Nagelsmann must take responsibility. It's very disappointing, but that's competitive sports. I believe Germany's journey will continue, but not under Nagelsmann."
