After a day of rest, the Vietnamese squad returned to the training ground to further their preparation for the ASEAN Cup 2026. Following the departure of overseas Vietnamese midfielder Khoa Ngo, who returned to his club for injury treatment, Coach Kim Sang Sik decided against adding extra personnel to the squad.
At present, the Vietnam national team consists of 27 players. As scheduled, Coach Kim Sang Sik will bring the full squad to South Korea for a training camp starting July 2.
In a pre-training interview on the afternoon of June 29 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, defender Doan Van Hau stated: "At every stage, the Vietnam national team has a different group of players. Naturalized players will make the squad stronger."
This gathering also features a new coaching staff, different from eight years ago. Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will choose the best players for the national side. Regardless of the lineup, every player will give their utmost for the fans.

For me, winning the 2018 AFF Cup feels like a long time ago, and I prefer to focus on the future. During this call-up, after being away for a while, I have an opportunity to compete in an extended tournament like the upcoming campaign. My objective is to work together with the entire squad to secure the top spot.
At the moment, I am in excellent physical shape. I hope to be fortunate and stay injury-free so that I can keep supporting the national team and deliver the best possible outcome."
Commenting on Coach Kim Sang Sik, Van Hau said: "From a player's point of view, I find Coach Kim Sang Sik's career truly impressive. He has played for major clubs, and I hope that he will use that experience to guide us players."

Van Hau noted that following the conclusion of the V-League, the players assembled and Coach Kim Sang Sik has been progressively raising the training intensity to ensure optimal preparation for the competition.
"When you are called up to the national team, it doesn't matter which club you represent. All players compete for the national emblem and jersey."
Discussing his partnership with Phan Tuan Tai, the 1999-born defender stated: "At certain moments, our roles will interchange. I can move inside, while Tuan Tai handles the full-back position. But what matters most is that we work together effectively to secure victory for the team. That is the best part."
As per the schedule, the Vietnam national team will train in Hanoi until the end of July 1, after which they will travel to South Korea for a training camp from July 2 to July 14.
During this period, the squad will participate in three friendly matches to assess the roster, gauge player performance, and finalize their tactical approaches ahead of their campaign to defend the ASEAN Cup 2026 title.
