Do Hung Dung unexpectedly changes direction, preparing for a new role in Vietnamese football

During the break after the season, Do Hung Dung joins the AFC/VFF 2026 C coaching certificate course.

After the 2025/26 season ended, midfielder Do Hung Dung quickly embarked on a new journey by enrolling in the 2026 AFC/VFF C coaching certificate course. The Hanoi FC captain's move shows serious preparation for the future, even though he is still playing professionally and has no plans to retire.

On the morning of June 28, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in collaboration with the National Defense Sports Center 3, held the opening ceremony of the 2026 AFC/VFF C coaching certificate course in Da Nang City. This is one of the key training programs within the roadmap to develop Vietnam's coaching workforce, implemented with professional support from the Japan Football Association, aiming to gradually improve the training system from C to Pro levels according to AFC standards.

This year's course brings together many familiar faces in Vietnamese football, especially former and current national team players such as Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Huy Hung, Le Van Thang, and Ho Khac Ngoc. The proactive participation of many experienced players in coaching courses shows a trend of early preparation for post-career life, while also contributing to the future supply of quality human resources for domestic football.

Notably, Do Hung Dung was trusted by the participants and elected as class monitor. Speaking on behalf of the whole class at the opening ceremony, the Hanoi FC midfielder said that most trainees are new to the coaching training program, so they still feel many uncertainties. However, he affirmed that the entire class will strictly follow the regulations, actively learn, and be determined to complete the course with the best results.

On the organizers' side, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Sinh - Director of the National Defense Sports Center 3 - expressed his honor that the unit is hosting the course for the first time and pledged to create the most favorable conditions in terms of facilities and daily life for the trainees. Meanwhile, lecturer Phan Ba Hung affirmed that he will convey the latest knowledge and coaching methods so that the participants can effectively apply them to their future training work.

According to the plan, the AFC/VFF C coaching certificate course 2026 will run until July 10, featuring a program that combines theory and practice according to AFC standards. For Do Hung Dung specifically, attending this course is not only an opportunity to accumulate professional knowledge but also reflects a long-term vision in preparing for the next stage of his career, promising to continue contributing to Vietnamese football in a new role when his peak playing years come to an end.
