Curse broken? Kane scores historic goal, sets 4 records! Becomes England's all-time World Cup top scorer with 70 goals in a season, surpassing Ronaldo

As of June 28 in Beijing time, the last fixtures of World Cup Group L came to an end. Favorites England overcame pressure to beat Panama 2-0, clinching first place in their group and dodging a possible early clash with powerhouse Portugal. Meanwhile, Harry Kane, the 32-year-old skipper of England, managed to regain his goal-scoring touch in this game.

In the previous match against Ghana, Kane was believed to have been "cursed" by a Ghanaian witch doctor, causing him to miss a golden chance to score and leaving England held to a surprising draw. In this match, England once again struggled to find the net in the first half. However, after Bellingham broke the deadlock in the second half, Kane headed home in the 67th minute to seal the victory, thus breaking the "spell" cast by the Ghanaian sorcerer.

With this goal, Kane achieved several milestones. First, it was his 11th World Cup goal, tying him with Kocsis and Klinsmann for 8th place on the all-time World Cup scorers list.

Second, this strike allowed Kane to surpass Lineker, becoming England's sole all-time World Cup top scorer with 11 goals. Third, Kane has now netted 18 goals in major international tournaments (World Cup + European Championship), equaling Mbappé for third place in European history, behind only Ronaldo and Klose.

Fourth, the England captain has scored 70 goals this season for club and country combined, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo's career-best single-season tally of 69 and also exceeding Messi's second-best season of 69 goals. Only Messi's record of 82 goals from the 2011-12 season stands ahead of him.

While it may be unrealistic for Kane to break Messi's incredible record, if England advances far enough in the World Cup, he still has a chance to approach that milestone.
