The Vietnamese national team cannot yet have a full squad before the training camp.

The Vietnamese national team still does not have its strongest lineup after the first days of gathering, as some players are undergoing recovery training, while overseas Vietnamese midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa had to leave the team because he could not recover from his injury in time.

The Vietnamese national team is entering an important preparation phase for the 2026 AFF Cup. It began with the first training sessions under the guidance of coach Kim Sang Sik. However, after four days of gathering, the coaching staff still does not have the strongest available squad, as some players are still recovering from injuries and cannot train normally with the whole team.

In the latest training session, center-back Do Duy Manh and midfielder Khua Van Khang continued to follow individual recovery programs under the supervision of the medical team. These are cases that require careful monitoring of their physical condition to avoid the risk of re-injury, especially since the team still has nearly two weeks of preparation before the training camp in South Korea.

The Vietnamese national team still lacks full numbers because many key players are undergoing separate recovery training.

Notably, overseas Vietnamese midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa has officially left the Vietnamese national team due to not recovering from his injury in time. This player faced physical issues after a period of high-intensity matches, and the coaching staff allowed him to return to his club for continued treatment instead of staying with the team during this training camp.

On the positive side, the team also received encouraging news regarding its roster. Goalkeeper Patrik Le Giang has returned to training after recovering from sinusitis. Two center-backs, Bui Hoang Viet Anh and Nguyen Thanh Chung, have also joined the camp in full, providing more quality options for the defense during preparations for the tournament.

The Vietnamese national team will travel to South Korea for a training camp starting July 2 to prepare for the 2026 AFF Cup.

Sharing about the atmosphere in the early days of the gathering, young center-back Nguyen Nhat Minh said that the players are gradually regaining their fitness after a long season, and according to him, the whole team is always supporting each other to adapt to the coaching staff's training plan, while the large squad helps maintain the quality of training sessions at a high level.

According to the plan, the Vietnamese national team will continue training in Hanoi until the end of July 1 before heading to South Korea for a training camp from July 2 to 14. During this period, coach Kim Sang Sik and his players will play three friendly matches to evaluate the squad, refine their playing style, and ensure the players are in optimal condition before embarking on the journey to defend the 2026 AFF Cup championship.
