Due to insufficient injury recovery, overseas Vietnamese midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa must say goodbye to the Vietnam national team.
After examination and assessment of his injury condition, midfielder Ngo Dang Khoa will no longer continue with the Vietnam national team during the training camp preparing for the 2026 ASEAN Cup.
Ngo Dang Khoa sustained the injury while still playing for his club. MRI results confirmed that the player has a grade 2 meniscus tear. During the recent days with the national team, Dang Khoa could not participate in specialized training sessions, only focusing on recovery and physical therapy following the medical team's protocol.
According to doctors' evaluations, if he continues training and playing without full recovery from the injury, Ngo Dang Khoa risks further damage, potentially a grade 3 meniscus tear requiring surgical intervention.
On the afternoon of June 27, head coach Kim Sang Sik personally spoke with Ngo Dang Khoa. After reaching an agreement with the player and the medical staff, the coaching team decided to allow the young midfielder to return to his club for continued treatment and injury recovery.
Returning to the club will enable Ngo Dang Khoa to receive continuous monitoring and treatment for his injury, aiming for a swift recovery and return to play.
Ngo Dang Khoa is one of three newcomers first called up by coach Kim Sang Sik to the Vietnam national team for the training camp preparing for the 2026 ASEAN Cup. Although he did not get the chance to train and play with the national team due to injury, this call-up remains a memorable milestone in the development journey of this 19-year-old young player.
Hopefully, Ngo Dang Khoa will recover soon to continue pursuing his goal of contributing to the Vietnam national team in the future.
