Manchester City has made a bid for Anderson, while Manchester United is targeting M. Fernandes! It is reported that M. Fernandes will almost certainly join the Red Devils.

Manchester City has made its first offer to Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson, but the proposal was turned down. Talks continue, and the "Sky Blues" aim to complete the transfer prior to the World Cup. They are confident that personal terms with Anderson, aged 23, are largely settled, leaving no issues there.

According to the Daily Mail, City identified Anderson as a target back in November. The England international midfielder has always preferred joining them over local rivals United. The main hurdle remains Nottingham Forest's owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who is reluctant to let go of his best player unless a fee exceeding £100 million is paid.

Anderson still has three years left on his contract with Nottingham Forest, so the club is under no pressure to sell. He is currently in Florida, USA, preparing for the World Cup with the England squad, where he is expected to be Thomas Tuchel's first-choice midfielder alongside Arsenal's Declan Rice.

When Anderson joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United, his transfer fee was already £35 million. Now, after 92 appearances for Forest and becoming a regular for England, his value has soared. Manchester City has appointed Enzo Maresca as head coach and is currently negotiating compensation with Chelsea. Anderson is reportedly a player Maresca has approved for signing.

Manchester United hopes to complete transfers early this summer to allow players to integrate quickly. Carrick has stated that since taking over in January, he has been heavily involved in recruitment meetings. Ederson, the 26-year-old Atalanta midfielder, has been confirmed as the first summer signing. Who will be next for the Red Devils? The answer is Matheus Fernandes! United and City may have an unspoken understanding not to drive up each other's prices.

Manchester United has initiated preliminary contact with West Ham United. BBC's Simon Stone predicts that M. Fernandes' move to United this summer is almost inevitable. "I would be very surprised if this transfer doesn't happen," he said. "I believe United and West Ham are now in a game of poker. West Ham insists they are under no pressure to sell M. Fernandes, hence they are asking for £80 million."

According to his report, the M. Fernandes deal should eventually go through, especially since he was left out of Portugal's World Cup squad, giving ample time for negotiations. United has yet to make an official bid, and West Ham knows their £80 million asking price is unrealistic, so they will eventually lower it.

It is understood that the future of Uruguayan midfielder Ugarte could significantly impact United's next moves. If he can be sold, it would benefit all parties. Depending on the price he fetches, United will find it easier to determine the budget available for their next two midfield signings.

M. Fernandes admires Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, hence his eagerness to join Manchester United. Another player equally keen on making the move is Brighton's Carlos Baleba, whose agent has actively recommended him, telling the Red Devils that he is "love to join" the club.

However, United's interest in Baleba has waned because he shares a similar style with Ederson, and the 22-year-old had a poor performance in the just-concluded season, while Brighton still demands a high fee. His transfer is expected to be around £50-60 million, similar to the amount United believes it would take to sign M. Fernandes. Between the two, the better-performing and one-year-younger M. Fernandes is naturally the priority.
