According to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in the Middle East, on June 1, the Iraqi Football Association announced that the national team will wear their traditional white kits in the first two matches against Norway (June 17) and France (June 23) in Group I.

For the final group match against Senegal on June 26, the West Asian side will don green kits – a color deeply tied to Iraq's football identity. The choice of jersey colors follows FIFA regulations on home and away attire, ensuring a clear visual distinction from opponents in each game.

At the 2026 World Cup, Iraq has been drawn into a challenging group featuring France – one of the top title contenders – along with Norway and Senegal. Nevertheless, the team nicknamed the "Lions of Mesopotamia" aims to compete for a spot in the knockout stage. Iraq's appearance at the world's biggest football festival is seen as a major milestone for the country's football, with hopes of springing surprises against higher-rated opponents.

With preparations fully completed – from squad selection to match kits – Iraq is heading into its 2026 World Cup journey determined to assert the status of West Asian football on the global stage.
