HLV Arne Slot sends an emotional letter after being sacked by Liverpool

After parting ways with Liverpool, Arne Slot addressed the fans with an emotional letter, looking back on his unforgettable time at Anfield and reaffirming his belief in the club's future.

Arne Slot has officially spoken out after Liverpool's unexpected decision, bringing his two-year tenure at Anfield to a close with an emotional letter to the fans. Despite leading the Reds to their 20th Premier League title in history, the Dutch manager could not keep his job after the turbulent 2025/26 season.

In an open letter published in the British media, Slot admitted he leaves Anfield with regrets but also great pride in what was achieved: "When I walked past the famous sign in the Anfield tunnel, I always felt the responsibility, expectations, and desire to win. This is one of the greatest clubs in the world, and leading Liverpool has been a special honor in my career."

The biggest highlight of the 47-year-old manager was his first season. He helped Liverpool clinch the Premier League title a month early, finishing 10 points ahead of the rest of the league. That championship was especially meaningful as fans were able to celebrate a domestic trophy at Anfield in person for the first time in 35 years.

"I will never forget the sight of hundreds of thousands of fans flooding the streets of Liverpool to celebrate with the team. That moment went far beyond the value of a trophy."

However, the past season saw Liverpool experience a significant decline. The team finished in fifth place and lost its title contention. The management therefore decided to terminate Slot's contract, even though he still secured the club a Champions League spot.

Not only facing professional pressure, Slot also went through a difficult period when Liverpool lost forward Diogo Jota in a traffic accident last year. The Dutch manager devoted a large part of the letter to remembering his late player:"Diogo was not only a fantastic player but also a special person. The way Liverpool fans united, loved, and remembered him will forever stay in my heart."

Closing the letter, the Dutch manager thanked the players, club staff, management, and fans, while stating his belief that Liverpool will continue to succeed: "Change is part of football. I am leaving but I fully trust in Liverpool's future. This club will always make its fans proud."
