M費 confirms his childhood dream of playing for Manchester United, most wanting to time travel back to 2008 to partner Cristiano Ronaldo. United are confident of completing a €50m deal.

The signing of Ederson from Atalanta by Manchester United is inevitable, only a question of timing. The next target? There are two major candidates: Tonali of Newcastle and Matheus Fernandes of West Ham. Elliott Anderson of Nottingham Forest is thought to be leaning towards Manchester City. On the other hand, M費 prefers a move to United over Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain.

Even while wearing the West Ham shirt, M費 has not hidden his "childhood dream of United." When asked which team he would choose if he could travel back in time to play in any era, the 21-year-old Portuguese midfielder replied: "The United with Cristiano (Ronaldo). That United was incredible, and Cristiano was incredible too, so I would choose that era."

M費 is naturally referring to United around 2008, when the Red Devils completed a second Premier League three-peat and lifted the Champions League trophy in Moscow. Notably, during his time at Southampton, M費 also expressed his desire for United, saying: "In my opinion, Old Trafford is the best place I have ever played!"

As for M費's current most admired player, it is also from United. "My biggest idol right now is B費, because he is already a very excellent player," M費 said. British media report that B費 has also recommended to United that they sign his former Sporting Lisbon protégé. In an old photo, the United captain once appeared together with a young M費.

The Athletic reports that United believe M費's skill set resembles that of his Portuguese compatriot Vitinha at PSG. He is not particularly tall—only 1.80m—but technically gifted, capable of controlling the tempo of the game, and could serve as a successor to both Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes.

Although M費 missed out on Portugal's World Cup squad, his Premier League performances this season have been outstanding. He has delivered a series of impressive displays for West Ham, making 42 appearances across all competitions with 5 goals and 5 assists. This has attracted attention from several top clubs, making him one of the focal points of the summer window.

West Ham are expected to sell M費 this summer. His contract has no release clause, and the Hammers will demand a high fee, but due to their relegation to the Championship, they will have to accept some discount. The valuations are theoretically still £30m apart, yet both sides believe the deal can be done.
