A priceless goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta early in the second half helped Crystal Palace beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 to claim the first European title in the club's history.

13 years since Crystal Palace returned to the Premier League via the promotion play-off, the London club has now added a European trophy to their cabinet, which already housed the FA Cup from May 2025 and the Community Shield from August 2025.

With the Conference League title, Crystal Palace earn a spot in next season's Europa League, something they were previously denied as FA Cup winners due to UEFA's multi-club ownership rules.

Crystal Palace become the first team to win a European trophy on their debut since KV Mechelen did so in the 1987-88 Cup Winners' Cup.

As for manager Oliver Glasner, the Austrian tactician will leave Crystal Palace after this season. He has been a successful coach, winning three trophies with the club in just 12 months.

Crystal Palace, along with Aston Villa and Arsenal, are showcasing the strength of English football as they aim for the milestone of sweeping all three European trophies in the same season.
