BREAKING: Arsenal denied the Premier League trophy lift

The Gunners are organizing a celebratory open‑top bus parade for winning the Premier League after more than two decades, but supporters are surprised to learn that the trophy ceremony will not take place at the route's endpoint.

After officially being crowned Premier League champions due to Manchester City stumbling against Bournemouth, the Arsenal players were able to fully savor the joy.

Captain Martin Ødegaard followed in the footsteps of legends Tony Adams and Patrick Vieira by lifting the prestigious trophy on the pitch at Selhurst Park. To share this historic happiness with the fans, the Gunners planned a grand open‑top bus parade for Sunday, May 31.

Arsenal win the Premier League for the first time in 22 years

However, newly disclosed details from the Arsenal Supporters' Trust (AST) have sparked considerable interest. According to the announcement, the celebration parade will feature neither a trophy lift nor a display of the title at the town hall at the end of the route. This strict decision was reached after thorough discussions between the club and the police to guarantee maximum safety.

With a 9‑km parade route winding through north London streets, organizers expect an enormous turnout ranging from 500,000 to one million fans.

To prevent hundreds of thousands of people from converging on a single spot and causing chaos, the police requested the dispersal of the crowd. Instead of a traditional trophy‑lifting ceremony at the end, the title will be raised repeatedly by Mikel Arteta’s squad while the bus moves along the route.

The championship trophies will be held aloft by the players on the bus rather than on a stage at the parade's conclusion

Commenting on this decision, which has caused a fair amount of disappointment, the AST Arsenal account explained on social media:

“For those wondering why there is no trophy lift at the end of the parade, consider the numbers: between 500,000 and 1 million people are expected to attend. Wembley Stadium holds 90,000. Glastonbury holds 180,000, and that crowd already stretches to the horizon. There are genuine practical issues to consider. The expected audience is 500,000 to 1 million. With that many people, no stadium could contain them.”

The Gunners are now focusing on the Champions League final, which kicks off at 11:00 PM on May 30

What is more, Arsenal is actively urging fans not to head to the Emirates Stadium or the Drayton Park area, as the entire stadium and its surroundings will be completely sealed off for security purposes.

The parade will feature four open‑top buses in total – including the women’s team carrying their European trophy – and will start at 2:00 PM. Even though the traditional trophy lift at the end of the event has been refused, the festive atmosphere is still expected to be explosive, with musical performances by well‑known artists such as Femi Koleoso and DJ Sammy Virji.
