A 20-year-old footballer of Vietnamese descent has skyrocketed in value to over 1,000 billion VND, putting him in a strong position to play at the 2026 World Cup.

Arab media reports that Vietnamese-origin player Ibrahim Maza is certain to be included in the Algerian national team's roster for the 2026 World Cup.

The core training camp of the Algeria national team for the 2026 World Cup has officially begun at the National Team Training Center in Sidi Moussa, on the outskirts of Algiers. The atmosphere is extremely tense and filled with speculation about the official squad, after coach Vladimir Petkovic decided to postpone the announcement of the final selection until May 31st.

Algeria's national team will begin its preparation campaign with 28 players, before the Swiss tactician reduces the squad to 26 official names. Nevertheless, overseas Vietnamese player Ibrahim Maza is considered a certainty to be on the final list for the 2026 World Cup.

Maza's mother is Vietnamese, while his father is Algerian. The 20-year-old attacking player, Ibrahim Maza, was recently valued by Transfermarkt at 45 million euros (1.3 trillion VND). He is the most expensive player of Vietnamese origin in history. Maza has played 15 matches for Algeria and scored 2 goals.

In the past season, Maza scored 5 goals and provided 7 assists in 44 appearances for Leverkusen across all competitions. Leverkusen finished in 6th place in the Bundesliga last season and will compete in the Europa League next season.

This will be the first time in Ibrahim Maza's career that he experiences the atmosphere of a World Cup. After competing with Algeria's green shirt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Morocco, it is now time for this talented midfielder to step onto the global stage in North America.

In the 2026 World Cup, Algeria is in Group J with Argentina, Austria, and Jordan. Algeria will play its opening match against Argentina on June 16 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City (USA).
