Signs of decline emerge for Malaysia's national team ahead of the clash with Vietnam

Prior to the June FIFA Days, Malaysia's national squad remains strangely quiet, causing worry among supporters and specialists.

The Malaysian national team is experiencing an unusual state of instability just before the June FIFA Days. While many Southeast Asian teams have announced their training camps and international friendly matches, Malaysian football has nearly "frozen" as the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has yet to issue any official statement regarding the national team.

The silence from FAM is unsettling Malaysian public opinion. Players, coaching staff, and even fans are uncertain whether the team will convene in June. Notably, head coach Peter Cklamovski has not appeared before the media nor made any comments about preparation plans for the upcoming important tournaments.

The Malaysian national team has taken no action ahead of the June FIFA Days.

Former Malaysian international Razman Roslan, a member of the 2010 AFF Cup winning squad, openly expressed his disappointment: "The current situation of the Malaysian national team is terrible. If the team is not gathering, FAM leaders should at least speak up, but they choose to remain silent in such a sensitive context—that's really not good. Malaysian football shows signs of decay. The scandal involving seven naturalized players being improperly registered has caused disastrous consequences, leading to a loss of trust and negatively affecting the domestic league as well."

Not only experts but also Malaysian media are bewildered by FAM's prolonged silence. Many newspapers report they cannot reach senior federation officials, including the FAM president. Meanwhile, the Malaysian Professional Footballers Association argues that this is the post-season break and domestic football will not resume until September. However, this viewpoint does little to ease concerns, as the national team still has many important tasks ahead.

Many Malaysian players are uncertain about the future of the national team.

In July, the ASEAN Hyundai Cup will kick off before regional football enters the FIFA ASEAN Cup. While rivals like Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore have already made thorough preparations with international friendlies, Malaysia's "stationary stance" raises major questions among fans about the team's ambitions.

After numerous upheavals involving naturalized players and off-field controversies, Malaysian football is at a very sensitive juncture. Ranked 146th in the FIFA world rankings, the Malaysian national team clearly needs a significant boost to restore confidence. Yet at this moment, all fans receive is a worrying silence from the very leaders of the country's football scene.
