De Zerbi makes a shocking statement about saving Tottenham from relegation.

Roberto De Zerbi not only saved Tottenham from the nightmare of dropping down a division, but he is also set to initiate the most extensive overhaul seen at North London in a long time.

Tottenham has just secured their Premier League survival in the most nail-biting fashion, yet what draws even more attention is not the result itself, but the arrival of Roberto De Zerbi.

When De Zerbi replaced Igor Tudor at the end of March,Spurs had almost completely lost their direction. However, within just a few weeks, the Italian tactician led the team to three wins in their last seven matches, successfully avoiding relegation, capped by a 1-0 victory over Everton on the final day.

Midfielder James Maddison admitted that Tottenham “could very well have been relegated” if De Zerbi had not arrived. According to Maddison, what the Italian manager changed went beyond tactics—it was the spirit and fighting fire in the dressing room.

One of the clearest symbols of that revival is João Palhinha. The midfielder, on loan from Bayern Munich, scored crucial goals against Wolves and Everton, and has publicly expressed his desire to stay with Spurs long-term. Former defender Gary Neville believes that Tottenham must give power to De Zerbi if they do not want to lose him. Neville described the Italian tactician as a “bulldozer,” ready to clean house aggressively in the current squad.

At the club's top level, chairman Peter Charrington has also sent an open letter to fans, pledging strong investment for De Zerbi over several transfer windows and confirming that Tottenham has no intention of selling the club.
