This year's squad blends the "golden generation" that played in Qatar with promising new talents. In goal, the goalkeepers include Matt Freese (New York City FC), Matt Turner (New England Revolution), and Chris Brady (Chicago Fire). Matt Freese has secured the starting spot thanks to consistent form throughout 2025, pushing the 2022 World Cup starter Matt Turner to a backup role. Youngster Chris Brady makes his debut despite having no previous senior national team appearances.

The defense comprises 10 players, led by center-back duo Chris Richards (Crystal Palace) and veteran 38-year-old Tim Ream (Charlotte FC). The list also includes defender Antonee Robinson (Fulham), defender Sergiño Dest (PSV Eindhoven), defender Miles Robinson (FC Cincinnati), defender Mark McKenzie (Toulouse), defender Joe Scally (Borussia Mönchengladbach), defender Max Arfsten (Columbus Crew), as well as high-value signings defender Auston Trusty (Celtic, $7.8 million) and defender Alex Freeman (Villarreal, $4 million transfer in January 2026).

The midfield features nine players, anchored by captain Tyler Adams (Bournemouth) and midfielder Weston McKennie (Juventus). Other midfielders include Malik Tillman (Bayer Leverkusen, valued at $41 million), Brenden Aaronson (Leeds), Gio Reyna (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Tim Weah (Marseille), Alejandro Zendejas (Club América), Sebastian Berhalter (Vancouver Whitecaps), and Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders). Gio Reyna's inclusion is considered an exception regarding form, while Tim Weah brings versatility, capable of dropping back to play as a full-back.

The attack is led by star forward Christian Pulisic (AC Milan), who is working to regain his scoring touch in 2026. Other attacking options include forward Folarin Balogun (AS Monaco), forward Ricardo Pepi (PSV Eindhoven, who scored 16 goals in the 2025–2026 season), and physically imposing striker Haji Wright (Coventry City).

Although the U.S. team still has certain weaknesses, the growth of its young players over the four years since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is expected to help them make history on home soil this year.
