Ugarte admits his mind has been away from Manchester United for months! Priced at 25 million, United fears he might remain unsold.

During the final Premier League game against Brighton, Casemiro was already gone, but Carrick opted for Mason Mount dropping deep alongside Kobbie Mainoo instead of Ugarte. This underscores that Ugarte has no future at Old Trafford.

If more proof were needed, it came in the second-half substitutions when Carrick chose academy midfielder Tyler Fletcher over Ugarte. Even Tyrell Malacia was given a farewell appearance, but Ugarte never got on the pitch.

When Manchester United signed Ugarte from PSG for €60 million in 2024, they hoped he would solve their long-standing defensive midfield issues. Instead, Ugarte only confirmed that Casemiro is irreplaceable.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United has explicitly told Ugarte's agent team that they want him to find a new club.

After the season ended, Ugarte was eager to leave Manchester and return home. At Carrasco International Airport, the 25-year-old Uruguayan midfielder told ESPN that in recent months, although he was at United, his focus had already shifted to the World Cup.

"In recent months, all my energy has been focused on the World Cup. Now it's time to prepare seriously, start training, and get ready for the match against Saudi Arabia," Ugarte said. "This year, my experience at United hasn't been good. At a certain point, I told myself: my priority is the World Cup. I gave everything for the World Cup, every minute I played was with the World Cup in mind, and every training session, whether high-intensity or recovery, was for the World Cup."

When asked if he would leave United this summer, Ugarte refused to give a clear answer. "I'm not thinking about what happens next, because when you end your career, the best match is representing your country in the World Cup. I want to enjoy the game and challenge my limits."

Pressed on whether United had told him he could leave, Ugarte replied: "Manchester United is one of the best clubs in the world. The World Cup will have a crucial impact on everything. I am open to any outcome. This year hasn't been perfect, but I learned a lot mentally. There are many good people around me, and I will try to take positive things from it. Let's see what happens at the World Cup. Whatever the result, I believe it will be good."

For Manchester United, Ugarte is a difficult player to handle. It's said the Red Devils are reluctant to market him widely, fearing it would devalue him further. But if they don't lower the price, there's a high chance Ugarte stays at the club, with his weekly wage of £120,000. United's asking price is £25 million (€28 million). Any team willing to pay that amount can take him away.

The most interested club seems to be Galatasaray. The Turkish champions showed interest in Ugarte as early as the winter transfer window, but United did not want to weaken their squad mid-season, especially in midfield.

As it turned out, that concern may have been unnecessary. Since January, Ugarte has played only eight matches, completing just two full games. In those two games, Manchester United drew one and lost one against Leeds United, so his presence made no difference.

Turkish media report that Galatasaray still wants Ugarte, but prefers a loan with an option to buy. Ugarte himself is willing to go to Istanbul. Additionally, United hopes Serie A clubs might consider competing for Ugarte.
