Coach Polking offered many compliments to Brandon Ly despite the midfielder having just 27 minutes of action for Cong An Ha Noi this season.
Brandon Ly Brandon Ly continued to draw significant fan attention after being given playing time by coach Alexandre Polking in the 1-1 draw between Cong An Ha Noi and Hong Linh Ha Tinh in round 24 of the 2025/26 V.League. Although he has only played a total of 27 minutes this season, the Vietnamese-Irish midfielder has left many positive impressions and received special praise from the Brazilian tactician.
In the match at Ha Tinh Stadium, Brandon Ly was introduced in the second half when the away side struggled to create breakthroughs. The 2006-born midfielder played with great effort for about 19 minutes on the pitch, constantly moving, supporting the press, and contributing to ball circulation. Even though CAHN dropped points in the final minutes, the young player's performance earned positive feedback from the coaching staff.
After the match, Coach Polking shared: "Brandon Ly generally played well. I liked how he came onto the field—very proactive and energetic, always trying to generate momentum and push the team's play forward. I hope in the next match we can continue to give him more minutes, and we'll see how things go from there."
Beyond professional praise, Coach Polking also frankly admitted feeling somewhat guilty for not being able to offer Brandon Ly more playing time. The Brazilian manager said: "I honestly feel a bit guilty toward Brandon Ly! If you look at the minutes I've given him, maybe I haven't been a good enough coach for him. But what I truly value is that Brandon Ly has never given up. He always trains seriously, works hard every day, and maintains a positive attitude."
He continued to speak highly of the overseas Vietnamese midfielder's potential: "Brandon Ly is a good player—still young and with great potential. The issue is that the team is performing well, and his position faces strong competition from many other quality players. That makes it difficult for me to give him more opportunities."
Before the match against Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Brandon Ly had only logged 8 minutes in the V.League this season—5 minutes against Hanoi FC and 3 minutes against Hoang Anh Gia Lai. Despite his very limited playing time, Coach Polking's remarks indicate that Brandon Ly remains part of Cong An Ha Noi's long-term plans and is expected to receive more chances to shine in the near future.
