Arsenal's fate changed overnight, Saliba reveals all

Arsenal went through plenty of stressful moments before finally quenching their thirst for the Premier League, and William Saliba recently disclosed the game that led the entire squad to be certain of winning the championship.

After several consecutive seasons of falling just short of glory, Arsenal finally ended their 22-year Premier League title drought. In that historic journey, William Saliba emerged as a major pillar in defense, playing a key role in helping Mikel Arteta's side overcome the intense pressure from the title race with Manchester City.

The French center-back recently shared some notable insights with Football365 about the season's biggest turning point. Saliba admitted that Arsenal only truly felt their chance to win the title in March, after a hard-fought victory over Everton. This very match completely transformed the belief in the Emirates dressing room about their ability to become champions after more than two decades of waiting.

"I started to feel that we could do it in March. After the game against Everton, I understood clearly that we were going to win the league," Saliba asserted. According to the 24-year-old defender, this was not merely three points but also a huge mental boost ahead of the international break, a period always fraught with unpredictable fluctuations.

The French international recalled: "It was a tough match. We knew we wouldn't be playing in the Premier League until after the international break, so that victory was extremely important." Arsenal's joy became even more complete when Manchester City unexpectedly slipped up against West Ham, a result that gave the North London side a significant advantage in the title race.

However, the journey to lifting the silver trophy was never easy for Arteta's squad. Saliba admitted that the period after players returned from international duty caused Arsenal plenty of difficulties, especially after a direct defeat to Man City. Yet instead of losing morale, the Gunners maintained their stability and belief in the ultimate goal.

"When we came back from the international break, things were a bit difficult. We kept moving forward, believing in ourselves, even after the loss to City. And now we are champions," Saliba emphasized. That statement clearly reflects the resilience that Arsenal built throughout the season, the factor that helped them overcome enormous pressure to complete the most memorable season in over two decades.
