Kanchanaburi Power's president rated Park Hang-seo's competence highly following the strategist's decision to take charge of the club.
Coach Park Hang-seo will officially return to professional coaching duties after a hiatus of more than three years, having accepted the role at Kanchanaburi Power. The Thai club's move rapidly captured widespread interest across Southeast Asia, particularly given that Kanchanaburi Power had just been relegated to Thai League 2 following a disappointing season.
During the 2025/26 season, Kanchanaburi Power secured merely 23 points across 30 matches and failed to remain in Thai League 1. Nevertheless, rather than opting for a conservative approach, the club made a stunning 'splash' by unveiling the hiring of Coach Park Hang Seo. The South Korean tactician is slated to assume control of the team starting in July, following his responsibilities with the South Korean national team at the 2026 World Cup, where he serves as the Vice President of the Korea Football Association overseeing the national squad.
After finalizing the deal with the coach who achieved great success in Vietnamese football, Kanchanaburi Power's chairman, Mr. Prawat Kitchathamkulnit, expressed high regard for Park Hang Seo's abilities. He declared: "Welcome Coach Park Hang Seo and his assistants to our team."
Beyond immediate objectives, the management of Kanchanaburi Power revealed substantial ambition through a long-term strategy alongside Park. Chairman Prawat Kitchathamkulnit stressed: "Mr. Park and his coaching staff will build the development foundation for Kanchanaburi Power. This foundation will begin with the club's youth academy, followed by a long-term roadmap for elite achievements."
Per Southeast Asian media reports, Park Hang-seo's initial mission is to guide Kanchanaburi Power back to Thai League 1 as soon as next season. Looking ahead, the club targets being competitive with Thailand's dominant force, Buriram United, within five years, and securing regular appearances in the AFC Champions League Elite.
Prior to taking the helm at Kanchanaburi Power, Park served as an advisor for Bac Ninh FC and was seldom involved in hands-on coaching. Hence, the South Korean tactician's return is drawing significant interest from fans across the region. Backed by his established experience and reputation, Park Hang Seo is anticipated to provide a major impetus for the Thai club on its path back to the summit.
