VPF has finalized the location for the playoff match to compete for a place in the 2026/2027 V-League season.
The relegation battle in V.League 2025/26 is entering its most tense phase, with only two rounds remaining before the season concludes. Currently, five teams are still at risk of facing a playoff or direct relegation: Thanh Hóa, HAGL, Becamex TP HCM, Đà Nẵng, and PVF-CAND. The narrow point gaps among these teams ensure that the bottom of the table will see significant fluctuations until the very last moment.
Against this backdrop, the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has officially announced that Hà Tĩnh Stadium will host the playoff match for a spot in V.League 2026/27. The match is scheduled for June 12 and will decide the final ticket to compete in Vietnam's top football league next season.
According to regulations, the team finishing 13th in V.League will face the runner-up of the 2025/26 National First Division. The winner will earn the right to participate in next season's V.League, while the loser must play in the First Division. This match is always regarded as a special contest, as it directly impacts the futures of both clubs.
Choosing Hà Tĩnh Stadium as a neutral venue is seen as a move to ensure professional fairness for the participating teams. Additionally, this central region stadium is considered suitable in terms of organization, security, and travel conditions for fans and teams alike.
In the First Division, the race for the playoff position is also nearing its conclusion. Bắc Ninh currently holds a strong advantage in the fight for the runner-up spot with 42 points, just five points behind league leaders Đồng Nai, with two rounds remaining.
If they maintain their current position, Bắc Ninh will have a historic opportunity to compete for promotion to V.League. However, the challenge for the First Division representative will certainly be tough, as their opponent is likely to be an experienced and resilient club from the top tier of Vietnamese football.
