South Korean media: 'The challenges for Coach Park Hang-seo are not over yet'

Coach Park Hang-seo is preparing to reappear in Thailand, which has captured the particular interest of South Korean media. According to Chosun Sports, this tactician is entering a significant new trial after his achievements with Vietnamese football.

South Korean media, specifically the newspaper Chosun Sports, is paying close attention to the latest decision of Coach Park Hang-seoas he officially agreed to lead Kanchanaburi Power FC in the Thai second division.

In an article with a title implying “a challenge with no end,” Chosun Sports states that Coach Park continues to choose a difficult path after creating a successful era with Vietnamese football. The Korean outlet emphasizes that Thailand is an environment where few South Korean coaches have truly succeeded, so Park’s willingness to test himself is seen as a bold decision.

According to published information, management company DJ Management confirmed that Coach Park Hang-seo will take on the role of head coach for Kanchanaburi Power FC after completing his duties as head of the South Korean delegation at the World Cup. Both sides have agreed that the strategist, born in 1957, will officially join the club in July.

Chosun Sports considers this more than just a football contract. The newspaper believes that Park is aiming for a larger goal: connecting and promoting the development of Southeast Asian football.

The new team of Coach Park is also described as an ambitious project. Although recently relegated, Kanchanaburi remains among the financially strong clubs in Thailand. The club’s leadership aims to return to the Thai League within one year, compete with Buriram United in the future, and reach the AFC Champions League within the next five years.

Additionally, Chosun Sports reports that Coach Park will bring many modern elements of South Korean football to Thailand, such as data analysis systems, nutritional regimes, fitness management, and youth training models.

Notably, the newspaper also recalls Coach Park’s statement in 2023 that he would not lead any more national teams in Vietnam or South Korea. Therefore, accepting the offer in Thailand is seen as proof of that commitment, while opening a new chapter in the career of the strategist who made history with Vietnamese football.
