As the 2025-2026 season wrapped up, Arsenal became the center of English football with an impressive title win. Crystal Palace players lined up to salute Mikel Arteta’s squad before kickoff, honoring Arsenal’s Premier League championship. The Gunners claimed their first league title since 2004.
This is also seen as a significant milestone, marking the powerful resurgence of Mikel Arteta’s team after years of anticipation.
Manager Pep Guardiola stepped onto the Etihad pitch for the last time as Manchester City’s head coach, ending a decade of brilliant success with the blue half of Manchester. In the farewell match for their tactician, Man City’s players had a disappointing performance, losing 2-1 to Aston Villa. Guardiola’s side finished the season in second place with 78 points, seven points behind leaders Arsenal. This season is considered turbulent for the Etihad club, as they repeatedly lost their advantage in the title race during the decisive phase.
Manchester City could not surpass Arsenal in the Premier League, but still had a fairly successful season with a domestic double (Carabao Cup and FA Cup). From next season onwards, the Etihad club will bid farewell to Pep Guardiola and several key veterans.

Manchester United finished the season in third place with 71 points. The Old Trafford side will return to the Champions League next season after a two-year absence. In the match at Brighton, United captain Bruno Fernandes set a new record with 21 assists in a single Premier League campaign, setting up Patrick Dorgu’s goal in a 3-0 victory for the Red Devils.
Aston Villa were the biggest surprise of this season. Their crucial win over Manchester City in the final round helped them finish fourth with 65 points. Meanwhile, Liverpool placed fifth with 60 points.
Notably, Sunderland had a relatively successful season after returning to the Premier League. Régis Le Bris’s team ended the season in seventh place with 54 points, finishing ahead of Brighton and Brentford. In the final matchday, Sunderland secured an important victory over Chelsea. This marks the first time in 51 years that the Black Cats have qualified for a European competition.
The Premier League has confirmed eight representatives for next season’s European competitions, but English football still has a chance to increase that number to nine if Crystal Palace beats Rayo Vallecano in the 2025-2026 UEFA Conference League final to earn a spot in next season’s Europa League.
If that happens, English football will further assert its dominance in European competitions with an unprecedented number of representatives in Premier League history.

At the bottom of the standings, Tottenham had a disappointing campaign, finishing 17th with 41 points. The London side secured their Premier League status with a 1-0 win over Everton in matchday 38, finishing 19 points clear of the relegation zone.
The three teams bidding farewell to the Premier League this season are Burnley, Wolves, and West Ham.
