Exploring the Thai club that Coach Park Hang Seo has just agreed to lead

Coach Park Hang Seo has agreed to manage the Thai club Kanchanaburi Power. A large number of Vietnamese supporters do not know much about this squad.

Kanchanaburi Power is a professional football club from Thailand based in Kanchanaburi Province, currently competing in Thai League 2 and using the Kanchanaburi Province Stadium with a capacity of 18,000 seats as its home ground. The team was founded in 2017 and has undergone several name changes, including Singha Rakhang Thong Muang Kan FC, Singha Rakhang Thong Kanchanaburi FC, and Dragon Pathumwan Kanchanaburi FC, before adopting its current name.

Recently, Kanchanaburi Power drew attention by appointing Coach Park Hang Seo. This club started from the Thailand Amateur League, finishing as runners-up in the Western region in 2019 to earn promotion. After Thai League 3 and Thai League 4 merged, the team continued competing in Thai League 3.

The 2024/2025 season marked a historic milestone as the team earned promotion to Thai League 1 for the first time after defeating Phrae United in the play-off round. However, in the 2025/2026 season, Kanchanaburi Power failed to maintain its place in Thai League 1, finishing in 16th place and being relegated.

Before appointing Coach Park Hang Seo, Kanchanaburi Power had gone through four coaches since last year: Dusit Chalermsan, Joaquín Gómez, Wasapol Kaewpaluk, and Lee Jung Soo.

The chairman of Kanchanaburi Power, Mr. Prawat Kithammakunnit, posted a congratulatory message for Coach Park after the Thai manager was appointed.

"Coach Park Hang Seo and his colleagues on the coaching staff will build a solid foundation for Kanchanaburi football, starting from the youth development system, while establishing a long-term strategic operational framework for Kanchanaburi Power FC," Mr. Prawat Kithammakunnit wrote on his personal page.

"Kanchanaburi Power FC wants local young players to understand that they do not necessarily have to leave their hometown to pursue their football dreams. Because now, right here in their homeland, a strong launchpad is being built to support them..." Mr. Prawat Kithammakunnit wrote. It is known that Mr. Prawat Kithammakunnit is the Chairman of the Kanchanaburi Provincial Council.

Rumors about Kanchanaburi Power FC appointing Coach Park had been circulating since early this month. On May 12, Mr. Prawat Kithammakunnit revealed: "I wanted to keep everything as confidential as possible. We learned from last season when we disclosed too much team information. So this time, we will wait until everything is 100% clear before making an announcement. Expectedly, within the next 2–3 days, we will have an answer for the media."

At his new club, Mr. Park Hang Seo has two fellow countrymen as assistants: Roh Yeong Su and Lee Jung Soo. Mr. Lee Jung Soo joined Kanchanaburi a few months ago to lead the team during the final stage of the season.
