Before embarking on their journey to conquer the 2026 Women's U17 Asian Finals, the Vietnam Women's U17 team received special encouragement from the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). On April 24, at the VFF headquarters, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan personally met and boosted the morale of the entire team before they depart to China to participate in the most important youth-level tournament for women's football in the continent.
The meeting was attended by VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha, Head Coach Okiyama Masahiko, the coaching staff, and all players of the Vietnam Women's U17 team. This was not only an occasion for spiritual encouragement but also demonstrated the close attention of the VFF towards the young generation of players – those expected to continue the success of Vietnamese women's football in the future.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized that the 2026 Women's U17 Asian Finals is a competition with a very high professional level, gathering the strongest teams in the region. Therefore, he required the entire team to maintain their health, sustain maximum focus, and prepare a solid mentality for each match. According to the VFF Chairman, competing on the continental stage will be a valuable opportunity for the young players to accumulate experience, mature faster, and build a foundation for their long-term development journey.
Additionally, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan also noted that the team needs to proactively study their group opponents thoroughly, develop suitable tactics, and maximize the strengths of each individual as well as collective power. He particularly emphasized a never-give-up competitive spirit, courage, and the will to overcome difficulties in all circumstances. The VFF will continue to accompany the team through professional analysis work and opponent assessment support to most effectively serve their competition journey.
On behalf of the coaching staff and players, Head Coach Okiyama Masahiko expressed gratitude to the VFF leadership for their attention and facilitation throughout the preparation process. The Japanese coach stated that the team has had positive preparation with a quality training camp in Japan and an intensive training process at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. He affirmed that the whole team is in very good spirits and will enter the tournament with the highest determination.
According to the plan, the Vietnam Women's U17 team will depart to China on April 28. The 2026 Women's U17 Asian Finals takes place in Suzhou from April 30 to May 17 with the participation of the 12 strongest continental teams. Vietnam Women's U17 is in Group A alongside host China, Thailand, and Myanmar. This is considered a challenging group, but also an opportunity for the young girls to prove their courage. According to the regulations, the four best-performing teams will earn tickets to the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2026 – the major goal that Coach Okiyama and his team are aiming for.
