Vietnam U17 is making a strong impression at the ASEAN Championship.

On social media, Thai fans have shown many notable reactions. One account commented: “Vietnam is progressing too fast, they play more disciplined and resilient than us at this moment.”

Meanwhile, another fan admitted: “Australia is so strong yet still lost, Vietnam deserves to reach the final.”

However, many opinions expressed regret for Thai football: “Looking at Vietnam makes me sad for us, they are truly advancing now.”

Another comment even warned: “If Thailand does not change its youth football approach, the gap with Vietnam will grow larger.”

From the early minutes, the match unfolded at high speed as Australia U17 quickly took the lead thanks to a classy finish by Luke Becvinovski. However, the resilience of Vietnam U17 soon showed. Late in the first half, Le Trong Dai Nhan earned a penalty, and although the initial shot hit the post, Manh Cuong promptly headed in to equalize 1-1.

In the second half, the situation became more tense as Australia U17 pushed forward seeking a goal. Nevertheless, Vietnam U17's defense played focused and disciplined. At minute 59, the turning point came from a well-organized free-kick situation, allowing Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc to finish near the goal, securing the 2-1 victory. In the remaining minutes, the Australian representatives continuously applied pressure, but could not penetrate the solid defensive system of the red-shirted team.

This victory helps Vietnam U17 secure a spot in the final against Malaysia U17, an opponent they defeated 4-0 in the group stage. This is seen as a major opportunity for coach Cristiano Roland's team to aim for the regional championship.

The victory of Vietnam U17 not only opens a championship opportunity, but also creates a strong ripple effect in the region, especially among traditional rivals like Thailand.
