Vinicius lacks thought in Real Madrid's defeat

The loss to Bayern Munich stirred controversy at Real Madrid, as Vinicius Junior faced heavy criticism from a former scout regarding his football mindset and finishing ability.

Former scout of Real Madrid, Manolo Romero, drew attention by publicly criticizing Vinicius Junior sharply after the Royal club's bitter defeat in the Champions League.

In the dramatic quarter-final against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid fell with an aggregate score of 4-6 after two legs, ending their European journey with regret. Despite leading multiple times in the return leg, Los Blancos could not maintain their advantage, especially after Eduardo Camavinga's late red card. Two late goals from the opponent dashed the Spanish team's hopes.

After the match, Romero did not hesitate to "single out" Vinicius as one of the main reasons for Real Madrid's failure. He believes the Brazilian forward lacks sharpness in finishing and does not meet the required football intelligence at the highest level.

Speaking on Cadena SER, Romero candidly stated: “I have said too many times that they need to improve their finishing, need to 'use their brains' when playing. I am not sure Vinicius's brain can improve, but finishing can. The important thing is to work on it.”

Not stopping there, this former scout also criticized the attitude and ambition of the star born in 2000. He compared Vinicius to legend Hugo Sanchez, who would spend hours just practicing finishing, to emphasize the difference in professionalism.

Romero added: “Vinicius lacks the humility to admit that his finishing is poor. The best players always know what they lack to improve, but he does not.”

These statements immediately sparked controversy among fans, as Vinicius is still considered a key figure in Real Madrid's attack. However, the defeat to Bayern clearly exposed many issues, particularly inefficiency in scoring.

After the Champions League shock, Real Madrid must focus entirely on the La Liga race. Trailing Barcelona by 9 points with only a few rounds left, the Royal club has little room for error. To hope for a turnaround, they need to quickly improve their form, especially their chance utilization, which Romero believes is the team's "weak spot."
