Based on that, the Federation and Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc held numerous discussions, aligning on objectives and plans to build and elevate the Vietnam women's team in the coming period.
According to the agreement, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc will officially assume the head coach position from May 1, 2026. The contract between both parties is valid until the end of the 34th SEA Games, a tournament considered a key target in the development strategy of Vietnamese women's football.
One of the focal points at the ceremony was the direction regarding the use of overseas Vietnamese female players. Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc mentioned that some domestic clubs like Thái Nguyên and TP.HCM have begun facilitating opportunities for overseas Vietnamese players to compete, opening prospects for this talent pool in the near future.
From the VFF leadership side, Vice Chairman Trần Anh Tú affirmed that the Federation is always ready to support overseas Vietnamese players if they meet professional standards and complete nationality procedures. In the upcoming period, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc's primary tasks are to build the squad and focus on major tournaments such as ASIAD 2026 in Japan and the 34th SEA Games in Malaysia. VFF expects that, with his experience and understanding of Vietnamese football, Mr. Phúc will help the women's team maintain its leading regional position while reaching higher levels on the continental stage.
