Three V-League teams receive penalties ahead of round 19

The Vietnam Football Federation's disciplinary committee issued sanctions to three teams: The Cong - Viettel, Thanh Hoa, and PVF-CAND for violations in round 18 of the V-League.

On the eve of round 19 of the V-League 2025/26, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) issued a series of disciplinary decisions against numerous individuals and clubs related to violations in round 18, demonstrating that efforts to tighten the league's discipline are being intensified.

Most notably is the penalty imposed on coach Velizar Popov of The Cong - Viettel. Accordingly, this strategist was fined 20 million VND and suspended for four matches due to his reaction towards the referee during the match between The Cong - Viettel and Dong A Thanh Hoa at Hang Day Stadium on April 10th. This is a significant loss for the military-backed team during the fiercely competitive phase of the season.

Not limited to individuals, the club The Cong - Viettel itself was also fined 4 million VND because seven players received yellow cards in the aforementioned match. Meanwhile, club Dong A Thanh Hoa was penalized 2 million VND for a similar reason when five players were cautioned.

Additionally, PVF-CAND also incurred a 2 million VND fine after their match with CAHN when five players received yellow cards.

The tournament organizers also requested club leadership to strengthen reminders and ensure that staff, coaches, and players strictly comply with competition regulations, maintaining a positive and civilized spirit and attitude during matches and duties, preventing unsportsmanlike behaviors or expressions such as disrespecting referee decisions, opponents, or spectators.

Any violations will be strictly handled according to the regulations of football competition laws and relevant rules of the Vietnam Football Federation; and may directly affect the playing rights and participation duties of players and coaching staff members in subsequent matches.
