The new head coach of the Vietnam women's national team aims to win the gold medal at the 34th SEA Games.

During the announcement ceremony on April 17, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc stated the objective of securing the gold medal for the Vietnam women's national team at the 34th SEA Games.

On April 17, 2026, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) held a contract signing ceremony and announced the head coach of the Vietnam women's national team.Accordingly, after consulting the National Coaching Council and relevant professional departments, and based on specific tasks, the Vietnam Football Federation and Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc held discussions regarding the goals and development plan for the Vietnam women's football team. Both parties reached an agreement for Mr. Hoàng Văn Phúc to assume the head coach position from May 1, 2026 until the conclusion of the 34th SEA Games.

The primary task for the new head coach Hoàng Văn Phúc is to focus on building the squad and preparing optimally for the Vietnam women's football team's participation in the 2026 Asian Games (ASIAD 20), scheduled to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4, 2026, followed by the 34th SEA Games held in Malaysia.

For his part, Coach Hoàng Văn Phúc expressed his honor at being entrusted with this responsibility by the VFF, and stated that he will strive together with the coaching staff to build a united team, maximize the capabilities of the players, and aim for effective performance in upcoming tournaments, including the goal of winning the gold medal at the 34th SEA Games.
