The Vietnam U22 Football Team, which won the SEA Games 33 gold medal (notable achievements this year: Winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal; Winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship title), surpassed the Vietnam Women's Futsal Team that first won a SEA Games gold medal (notable achievements this year: Winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal after five consecutive runner-up finishes; Advancing to the quarter-finals of the Asian Championship) and the Women's 4x400m relay team in athletics that won the SEA Games 33 gold medal (notable achievements this year: Winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal and setting a record of six consecutive gold medals at the Games since 2015; Winning a silver medal at the Asian Championship) to receive the Sports Achievement of the Year award.

VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn, along with Journalist Nguyễn Tuấn Hùng – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency, and Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn – President of the Vietnam Football Federation, announced and presented the award for the category: Sports Achievement of the Year.
At the awards ceremony tonight, April 15, held at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace, the Vietnam U22 national team was honored for its achievement of winning the SEA Games 33 gold medal after a thrilling comeback victory against the Thailand U22 team in the intense final match.
